Recommendations
- The Aachen Cathedral is one of the oldest cathedrals in Europe. It has spectacular marble walls, beautiful chandeliers and high ceilings.
- The Aachen Markt is located in a nice square around the former city hall. The market is surrounded with restaurants, cafes and bars and is particularly stunning around Christmas time.

Hamburg
With three rivers that feed a maze of waterways and canals, Hamburg has been dubbed the "Venice of the north" (with six times as many bridges). The city has its roots in Maritime history, but also in music-making. It was the birthplace of Mendelssohn, the formative city of the Beatles, and recently, the state-of-the-art Elbphilharmonie concert hall has put Hamburg firmly on the map as one of the top cities for live music, as has its hip-hop and jazz club scene.

KielOslo

Oslo
Capital of contemporary art, rising star of gastronomy and home to a dance-until-dawn nightlife: Oslo is a city where a waterfront stroll in the nordic sun feels just as luxurious as sipping an Aquavit at a rooftop bar. Thanks to a handful of sprawling parks, you won't need to go far for a dose of natural beauty, but the Oslofjord's islands make a wonderful day's excursion.

Head to the established Norway Resistance Museum, dedicated to the Norwegian resistance fighters during the German occupation of WWII.
OsloTrondheim

Trondheim
Norway's third-largest city is an industrial-chic port town made for cycling (don't miss the world's first bicycle lift that climbs Brubakken Hill) and walks along the riverside. With a slew of Michelin-starred restaurants, Trondheim has been voted by Condé Nast as one of the top food destinations and dubbed the 'home of Nordic flavours'

Head to Ringve Museum, Trondheim's hub for music history and is surrounded by the Ringve Botanical Garden. Wander around antique instruments, tap your feet to tunes in the sound garden, and see a live demo. For pop and rock music fans, Rockheim in the city centre is a must!
Completed in 1300, Nidaros Cathedral is Norway's most important Gothic monument. You can explore the crypt, climb up for city views, take a guided tour, or even attend one of their special concerts. It's like a trip back to medieval times, right in the city centre!
Enjoy a relaxing afternoon paddling down the Nidelva River on a kayak or a stand up paddleboard, taking in the city's beautiful wooden houses and bridges from a different perspective. It's a peaceful, fun, and interesting way to see lots of the city.

Östersund
Östersund, located in central Sweden, is known for its blend of picturesque landscapes and cultural charm. A gateway to the Arctic, it boasts stunning lakes, dense forests, and outdoor adventures. Noteworthy landmarks include the Jamtli Museum and the Storsjöhyttan Glassworks. After spending the day exploring, enjoy a late-afternoon traditional fika (coffee break with pastries).

Relax in the sprawling meadows of Djurgården, a former royal hunting ground that's been transformed into a public recreational park.
Head to Stockholm's historic centre, Gamla Stan, and discover medieval churches and the baroque Palace.
Explore Stockholm's art scene at the red-brick Fotografiska. Despite being a relative newcomer (it opened its doors in 2010), Fotografiska has been quick to establish itself as one of the leading museums of photography in the world.

Gothenburg
Sweden's second city, Gothenburg is Stockholm's laid-back (and dare we say, cooler) cousin. Its waterfront, neo-gothic Feskekörka ('fish church') and upmarket seafood restaurants are reminders of its seafaring history. A stroll along bar-lined 'Avenyn’ (Kungsportsavenyn) boulevard will show you just how sociable Gothenburg is, as does the city's jam-packed calendar of cultural events.
