From the fantastic plant-based food scene to vegan-friendly shops and activities, such as a vegan food tour, vegetarians and vegans are spoilt for choice in Brighton. Vegetarian Shoes is the destination for footwear, and Infinity Foods is the perfect stop for all your eco-friendly needs. After shopping, treat yourself to vegan meal at fine-dining spots, Botanique or Food for Friends. If you'd prefer some junk food then make your way to Beelzebab, or Glazed Coffee for doughnuts.
Home to some of the best independent shopping in the UK, The Lanes is a maze of colourful houses and cobbled streets. Make sure to visit Snoopers Paradise, an institution in the North Lanes, where you'll get lost amongst the shelves filled with secondhand and refurbished treasures.
Brighton has a whole host of pubs, from lively to cosy, to enjoy a tipple. The Black Lion near the promenade is a popular spot with locals, and The Dorset in the North Laine area has a rustic, homely feel. If you want to make a night of it, then St James' Street in Kemptown is the place to be. We love the Hand in Hand and Ginger Dog.

- Take the local bus through the countryside to the village of Chawton to visit Jane Austen's former home, where she wrote some of her finest works. Then walk up the hill to the Elizabethan manor house once owned by her brother, a walk the writer often did herself, to visit the The Centre for the Study of Early Women's Writing, now located in the house.
Step through the Cathedral’s huge doors to soak up the splendour of one of England's most historic and largest Gothic buildings. Pause for a coffee and homemade cakes in the café afterwards.
Step back in time in the 13th-century Great Hall, which is all that now remains of Winchester Castle. Be sure to take a peek at the greatest symbol of medieval mythology, King Arthur’s Round Table.
