Make the 20-minute bus journey to Almere, The Netherlands' newest city and host of the 2022 World Expo Floriade. The internationally acclaimed horticultural exhibition had a 'Growing Green Cities' theme, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in open-air exhibits ranging from spectacular vertical gardens to pioneering urban design. After the expo finished, work began to further develop the site its very own 'Gren City', called Hortus.
Spend time in the quieter side of the Jordaan area. It’s home to plant-filled streets, chic cafés and some great restaurants.
Amsterdamse Bos is a woodland and nature haven just a 35-minute bike ride from the centre of Amsterdam. You can explore the woodland paths and discover wildlife in the ponds, grasslands and meadows as well as trying your hand at sailing or kayaking on the waterways.
