  • Wander through Montmartre and make the climb up to the famous Sacré-Cœur Basilica. Be sure to linger over the spectacular view at the top; at sunset, you'll get the best light as the sun dips below the city skyline.

  • Take a trip out to the Jardin Albert Kahn and immerse yourself in orchards, rose gardens and forests that combine French, Japanese and English garden design. They were originally created by banker Albert Kahn before the Wall Street Crash, after which he lost his bank and his fortunes – including this garden.

  • Spend an afternoon relaxing by a fountain on the public chairs in one of Paris' many parks – the Jardin du Luxembourg is particularly peaceful.

Bourg-Saint-MauriceLes Arcs

Hop on the funicular that runs between Bourg St Maurice and Arc 1600, which departs just behind the train station. In Winter, it opens until 20:00 (21:00 on Saturdays). The run is included if you have a Les Arcs and Paradiski pass. From Arc 1600, take a free local shuttle. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Bourg-Saint-Maurice. You’ll find taxis waiting in the rank outside the station who will charge approx €60, or book in advance.
