Recommendations

  • Cycle or hike out to Dancing Ledge, where you'll find an amazing tidal swimming pool that was originally blasted out of the rock for use by local schools. Take your swimming gear, and time your visit with low tide.

  • Head out to Durlston Country Park to explore the 230 acres of coastal countryside, teeming with wildlife. Haymeadows, woodland and fascinating rock formations are dotted across this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Be sure to pop into the Victorian Durlston Castle and grab some refreshment in the café.

  • Spend a day at the RSPB Arne Nature Reserve in Poole Harbour: hire bikes and cycle, or catch the bus and walk. The nature reserve sits within the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and showcases ancient oak woodland along with vast open heathland. Arne is one of the few places in the UK where all six of the UK's native reptiles can be found, as well as with other rare wildlife.
