Olivers
In a building which dates back to 1833, this is a lovely little B&B and tea rooms is just 200m from the castle and 350m from the railway station.
Recommendations
- Head up onto the chalky Purbeck Hills for jaw dropping views across miles of countryside and, if you walk the ridgeway to the coast, the expanse of Poole Harbour.
- Leave a good chunk of time to visit the incredible ruins of Corfe Castle itself, which was built in the 12th century and destroyed six centuries later by an Act of Parliament.
- Cycle or hike out to Dancing Ledge, where you'll find an amazing tidal swimming pool that was originally blasted out of the rock for the use of the local schools. Take your swimming gear and time your visit with low tide. It's quite a scramble down from the road, so wear sensible shoes. We'll tell you which route is best and arm you with the tide timings.
