Cologne
On the River Rhine and overlooked by the towers of its stunning 157m-high Gothic cathedral, Cologne (Köln) is one of Germany's largest cities. The city's unique identity is a mix of the narrow alleys of its old town, the Kölsch dialect (and Kölsch beer), and contemporary architecture down by the ultramodern Rheinauhafen riverfront complex.

Recommendations
Admire Cologne from above on the Rhein-Seilbahn cablecar, which runs from Kölner Seilbahn right across the River Rhine.
- Eat like a local and enjoy creative breakfasts, home-baked bagels and speciality coffee; so good they named it twice, Cafecafe is an eatery not to be missed.
Soak up the festive spirit at one of Cologne's Christmas markets. The Weihnachtsmarkt am Kölner Dom sits under the grand cathedral, with traditional handicrafts and a full events programme. The Harbour Christmas market has a maritime theme, with tents reminiscent of sails, while the Market of Angels in Neumarkt is adorned with twinkling fairy lights and illuminated mythical creatures.
Berlin
Boasting a vibrant foodie scene and packed with history, culture and arts, Germany's capital is an exciting city to explore. From cuisine to nightlife, Berlin's diversity and inclusivity shines through, and its excellent public transport and thriving vegan restaurants make it an easy city to enjoy sustainably.

Visit one of the most photogenic churches in Germany, the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, and enjoy a moment of peace beneath the spectacular blue stained-glass window.
Berlin boasts over 60 Christmas Markets during the festive period, including Japanese and Scandinavian-style markets, a sustainable Christmas market with vegan food (on the first three Advent weekends), and plenty of traditional offerings across the city. The Weihnachtszauber market at Bebelplatz and the market at Charlottenburg Palace are particularly pretty settings to enjoy some classic Christmas treats.
There are many museums dotted around Berlin, but some some of the most iconic are clustered on Museumsinsel (Museum Island), including the Pergamonmuseum and Neues Museum.
Amsterdam
The capital and most populous city of The Netherlands, Amsterdam is known for its art, colourful architecture and myriad canals. It's also packed with fascinating museums and independent shops, and has thriving food and nightlife scenes.

Visit one of Holland's eight Michelin Green Star restaurants, Bolenius. Using only the finest local and sustainable ingredients, the flagship restaurant combines traditional Dutch cuisine with contemporary flair.
Pop into the aristocratic house and tranquil gardens of the Van Loon family at Museum Van Loon, an oasis of quiet in the heart of the city.
